Danielle is a dedicated family law attorney and a trained and certified mediator. She focuses her practice exclusively on family law, representing individuals and mediating family law matters in both Maine and Massachusetts. In both her representation of clients and as a mediator, Danielle focuses on financially thoughtful and child-centric resolutions. Danielle understands that being a family law attorney involves so much more than practicing law. She takes the time to get to know and connect with her clients, she is dedicated to providing her clients with the tools and information they need to make informed decisions, and she is an unwavering advocate.

Danielle commits her practice to de-escalating conflict through thoughtful problem-solving and resolution. She resolves the majority of her cases without the need for court intervention, and is compassionate about helping clients navigate that process, as well as the court process, if needed.

Danielle helps clients navigate divorce and post-divorce matters, as well as custody disputes. She also regularly drafts and negotiates prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.

Prior to starting Starr Family Law & Mediation, Danielle was a Partner at Verrill Dana LLP where she worked in both the Boston and Portland offices. Danielle previously worked at Prince Lobel Tye LLP and Rackemann, Sawyer & Brewster, P.C., both in Boston, before joining Verrill Dana LLP. While in law school, Danielle clerked for the Honorable Randy J. Kaplan (ret.) in the Middlesex Probate and Family Court and the Suffolk Probate and Family Court.

  • "I came to Danielle overwhelmed and unprepared for an unexpected divorce. From our first conversation, she met me with kindness and empathy. She has an incredible ability to distill complex legal concepts into clear, understandable terms. She previewed each step of the divorce process so I never felt lost or blindsided. What truly sets Danielle apart is her deep focus on what actually matters. She consistently prioritized the best possible resolution for me and my child as my case moved from mediation to an interim order hearing and ultimately to trial. Even in the darkest moments, Danielle’s warmth and sense of humor eased the emotional weight of the process. I trusted her completely. She was always honest with me even when the truth was difficult. Danielle is not only an exceptionally competent lawyer, but she’s also an ethical and caring human being. She helped me survive the worst time of my life, and I will always be grateful for her guidance and advocacy."

"It’s no secret that getting divorced is one of life’s most stressful events and partnering with the right attorney makes all the difference. To state it bluntly, Danielle is an exceptional attorney and I cannot possibly recommend her highly enough. From the outset, she understood that my children were my number one priority and she made them hers as well. Every recommendation she made reflected a careful balance between protecting my children’s stability, which mattered more to me than anything else while also safeguarding my long-term financial future, which was a complicated and challenging task, as it always seems to be.  Her command of the financial aspects of my case allowed me to sleep at night. She was meticulous, strategic and no aspect of my situation threw her off or caused undo stress to me. She has that very rarest of communication skills that allows her to be both conciliatory and formidable as needed, knowing exactly when to take a firm, no-nonsense approach and when to lower the temperature on the other side, keeping things from going sideways while maintaining full control of the process. Danielle brings authority without aggression and compassion without (too much) compromise. If you are looking for an attorney that prioritizes your children, understands your financials and leads with intelligence, humor and confidence, Danielle is the one that you want in your corner and not in your soon-to-be ex-spouse’s corner."
